Medical Dosage Calculations (9th Edition) Review

Medical Dosage Calculations (9th Edition)
Average Reviews:

We used this book at my college for our math class. Did the publishers or editors actually read this book? In every chapter, and I mean literally, EVERY chapter, the example problems had typos in them. There were numbers in the calculations that even my math instructor could not figure out where they pulled it from. And don't bother to try to check your work with the answers in the back of the book... in every chapter, our class (and instructor) found at least 3 problems that had the incorrect answer listed in the back.
I would love to know how the people who have created this book (as this is the 8th edition) have managed to not have this book pulled and not used from schools due to the inconsistencies. It was a miracle that my class made it through this semester having to use this book.
I would not recommend it to anyone, except maybe an editor.

Love the online access that comes with the book; just type in your drug and voila, you have your info. The book is very easy to use compared to other drug guides. Instead of just having actions and intended uses, this book has therapeutic effects--my Mosby's 2010 did not have this, nor was it easy to sift through.

Pharmacology: Reviews and Rationales (Prentice Hall Nursing Reviews & Rationales Series) Review

Pharmacology: Reviews and Rationales (Prentice Hall Nursing Reviews and Rationales Series)

I have always really enjoyed the Review & Rationale series but this was the first book that fell a little short for me. I am not giving this book a bad review because it is a good book; it is organized, clear, and easy to understand. This book probably would have been more helpful to me when I was in nursing 101 or Med/Surg. I purchased this book during my final semester in nursing school while taking a critical care class. Most of the medications I learned about in critical care were not covered in this book which I didn't realize when I made the purchase. I spoke with another nursing student in my class who also has this book and she agreed: OK book but not a favorite. I don't exactly know why but I always reach for other references first before looking at this book. Perhaps one should look through a copy of this book before buying it to make sure it fits your specific needs.
