(More customer reviews)This anthology of readings on the concept 'person' is like none other. The editor selected a wide range of texts spanning the history of philosophy from Plato to the present day. Anyone interested in learning the evolution of the fascinating concept 'person' must get this book. Stephens' introduction to the volume is lucid and informative. Nonwestern philosophical views are included along with discussions of the divine Trinity, nonhuman animals, androids, and corporate persons. Teachers have many provocative readings to choose from in designing their courses. The brief introductions to each reading are great. Discussion questions for each text are terrific.
