(More customer reviews)I came across this book from my Spanish tutor a couple of years ago. I really appreciate that it is practically entirely in Spanish, but geared towards the non-native speaker. That said, even native speakers, more specifically teachers of Spanish, would reap a lot of benefit from this book. When I was taking some classes in Buenos Aires recently, I showed the book to my teacher, and he really like the layout, the fact that for each short story, you are given a one paragraph history about the author (this is the only part in English....and not sure why really), then it goes on to give you some things to think about when reading the story, it highlights certain words as they may be false cognates, or derivatives particular to that region and not the norm, then the actual story and at the bottom of each page, it has translations of some of the more difficult terms (slang, region specific vernacular, etc.). At the end, you have questions for the student, things to make you actually think about the story. What I really enjoyed is that at the very beginning of the book, it gives you a primer on how to approach reading a story to get the more benefit. It explains, plot, character evaluation, the difference in narratives, etc. Really a great book. I have bought 3 and given two away as gifts. Love the book and wish they'd come out with another with different stories!
