As a Woman of Color, I picked up this book with considerable anticipation. Unfortunatley, Mosley seems to struggle with the white male definition of philosophy, which is basically one long excuse of eurocentric, patriarchal hegemony. Thus, Mosley tries to take all the important and incredibly brave voices in African philosophy and wedge them into this incredbily narrow-minded space in academic discourse. We need to be able to read bell hooks and Cornell West on their own terms, which presents a far broader and more progressive philosophy than that of deceased white males, who couldn't even remember the names of their servants!
