(More customer reviews)This is a fantastic introductory textbook, providing an overview of field and lab techniques for palaeoenvironmental investigation. Written in simple, clear language it gives background on methods as well as more in-depth attention to the practical applications of each. I found it particularly useful for understanding new (to me!) tools even at a postgraduate level. Methods are applicable to a wide range of environments and allows the reader to develop a comprehension of processes to aid in interpretation of results. In addition, the bibliography includes some of the seminal works in various techniques, thereby providing an excellent reference list for more focus on relevant details. Highly recommended for earth science students at both graduate and undergratuate levels, particularly for those who do not have a strong physical science background.
